Thomas V. Byrne 92 of Denton died Monday afternoon, March 27th, 2017 in the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes. He was born July 18, 1924 in Bushnell, NE the son of Michael F. and Mary Ann (Bohan) Byrne. They lived on the family farm for a few years and then moved to Cheyenne, WY. The family had a farm there where they lived and he attended and graduated from St. Mary Catholic School. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 25, 1944, serving 30 months and in Germany Theater and in the Ruhr Battle, then on to the Philippines and Japan serving 10 months in the Pacific Theater until receiving his discharge with honors on May 4, 1946. He then returned to Cheyenne, working on ranches in Wyoming and Montana where he met his future wife Lillian P. Bruha at a rodeo in Roundup, MT. They were united in marriage on June 25, 1952 in Baker, MT. They then worked on a ranch near Melville, MT. In 1953 moved to the Romundstad Ranch later to become the Box Elder Ranch near Fergus, MT. He operated that ranch until his retirement in 1999 at the age of 75. They then moved to Denton where they made their home in their retirement.

Tom raised quarter horses, enjoyed rodeos, doing leatherwork and was known as a man of integrity.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Denton, Secular Order of Carmelites and American Legion Post #62 of Denton.

He is survived by his wife Lillian of Denton; sons Mike (Mary) of Lewistown and Pat (Anita) of Great Falls, MT; daughters Sr. Colleen Byrne and Bonnie Byrne both of Spokane, WA and Kathleen (Doyle) Arves of Shelby, MT; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral Liturgy for Thomas V. Byrne will be Friday, March 31st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., Vigil Services will be Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. both at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
