Shirley L. Cooper 83 of Lewistown died early Saturday morning, August 19th, 2017 in the Central Montana Medical Center from complications of pneumonia. She was born November 21, 1933 in Shelby, Montana the daughter of John and Georgia (Buchanan) Crosser. She received her schooling in Lewistown graduating from Fergus High School in 1952. She then went on to received her two-year teaching certificate from Western Montana College in Dillon, MT. That is where she met Howard A. Cooper. They were united in marriage on September 5, 1954 in Lewistown. They settled in Lewistown in 1958 and started their family, welcoming two (2) daughters, Teri and Leslie. Shirley worked at the Fergus County Federal Credit Union, the First National Bank and the Fergus County Assessor’s Office until her retirement.
After retirement, she enjoyed researching her family history, making scrapbooks for her grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends. She was involved in the united Methodist Church and the Central Montana Medical Center Auxiliary, where she took pleasure in making scrapbooks for the auxiliary.
Shirley never knew a stranger, she enjoyed visiting with everyone. She was very much a people person!
Shirley is survived by her husband of 62 years Howard of Lewistown; daughters Teri Olsen (Bill Stiff) of Grass Range, MT and Leslie (Patrick) O’Brien of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren Kayla Olsen, Lauren O’Brien, Casey Olsen and Clint Olsen; two great grandsons Kane and Cord Olsen; several nieces, nephews and cousins DeeDee (Nelson) Stanich of Billings and Jack Coffeman of Mountain Home, AK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Celebrations of Life for Shirley L. Cooper will be Satruday, November 18th, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Yogo Inn. At her request cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
