On October 1, 1961 the Cloyd Funeral Home opened with Jerry Cloyd and his Uncle Wesley Cloyd operating the business with chapels in Stanford and Denton.
Jerry graduated from the California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles in 1947. Wesley graduated from Worsham College of Embalming in Chicago in 1935. They operated the business with part-time help until Wesley retired in 1973. Jerry’s mother Nell helped in the business for several years. Jerry’s son Rick then began as office manager.
In 1976 R.J. (Dick) Brown graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and returned to work with Jerry. In 1990 Dick purchased the business from Jerry. Dick is active in Eagles and Elks Lodges, Eagles Manor Board of Directors and Montana Coroner's Association. He is a member of the Montana Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, Friendship Lodge #37 AF & AM of Lewistown and the Sons of the American Legion.
Gary Boyce joined the staff in March of 2012 and has completed his studies at Arapahoe Community College Mortuary Program and is looking forward to working with the families in Central Montana as a Funeral Director after several years as an educator and rancher.
In 2004 Jeremy R. Bristol graduated from Mount Hood College of Mortuary Science in Portand, Oregon and returned to work in Lewistown with Dick and Jerry.
Dick, Scot, Gary and Jeremy have continued to operate the business with part-time employees Jerry Cloyd, Scott Lutz, Keith Kucera, Milo Aasved, Doug Wolfe, Jim Jensen, Paul Kaufman, Todd Olsen and Mike Davis.
