Adrianne Fordyce, our wonderful daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 42 this past Sunday after an inspiring and courageous battle with melanoma. She carried her fearless spirit, boundless energy, and authenticity to Paradise, where she is no doubt recruiting for some co-ed extreme sports league.
Despite declaring during a legendary toddler tantrum that she would do “Nothing!” for Jesus, Adrianne went on to live a life full of grace, acceptance, and openhearted love. Her house became a refuge for those who were adrift and lonely, a place of family and healing for young hearts, where she surely entertained angels unawares, walked in His footsteps, and completely contradicted the promise made during her childhood outburst.
Adrianne was humble without being defeatist, funny without being cruel, and compassionate without being condescending. She had a gusto for life, and the suddenness of her illness and death is all the more shocking for it.
Those of us she leaves behind can only hope to honor her memory by attempting to live up to her example of kindness and grace, as difficult as that may be due to the impossible standard she left for us. Although she would be the last one to say it (and would probably be embarrassed by the fuss), Adrianne was the best of all of us, and even if our world seems dimmer due to her absence, we have to recognize that it is brighter because of her presence in our hearts and souls.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Martha Jimmerson, paternal grandparents, Ray and Phyllis Fordyce, and by Aubrey and Bonnie Kincaid.
She is survived by her parents, Patrick and Neta Fordyce; her siblings, Jesse, Kamron, Chad and Simon Fordyce; her children, Bayliss, Aubrey, Adelaide, and Akias, their father, Aubrey Kincaid and his parents Aubrey and Pamela Kincaid; her beloved boyfriend, Reno; thirteen nieces and nephews; numerous “bonus” kids who called her Mom; and a multitude of loving friends and family who will carry her memory forward.
Adrianne’s memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 22nd at 4 p.m. at the Winifred School, with a reception to follow at the Community Hall in Winifred.
A vigil will be held the evening before, on Monday, April 21st at 7 p.m. at the Winifred School for close family and friends who would like to share stories and memories of Adrianne.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com
