Barbara J. Roehl

September 10, 1940 — December 31, 2022

Barbara Joy Roehl

On December 31, 2022, Barb passed peacefully from our sight to join her beloved Dick and numerous others waiting to meet her at the gates. She was 82 years old.

Barb as born September 10, 1940, to Ted and Claudia (Joy) Brownlee at home in Cushing, IA. The first of four kids. She loved movies, skiing behind vehicles, and just in general being reckless. And yet she survived. She graduated in 1958 from Rockford High School in Iowa. She then attended NIACC nursing school earning her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1971.

She also had a vast interest in and studied geology, archeology, paleontology and history. An avid reader, you could ask her anything and she could talk for hours. Which she did with her grandkids, then they would pack up and travel to see it and find out more about it.

After a family vacation to Montana to visit her brother Mick and see the sights, the family decided that the whole lot of them needed to move to Montana. Lewistown became her home.

She was an RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then at CMMC. She then went to work for Dr. Gans, Dr. Fraser and Dr. Lefever.

In 1975 Barb met the love of her life in Dick Roehl. On his ranch they raised cattle and grew barley, wheat, and hay. There wasn't a chore she didn’t want to help Dick do. They were quite a pair.

Barb is survived by her children, Becky (husband Bob) Long, Jeff Roehl and Jean (wife Vicki) Myers, siblings Mick (wife Linda) Brownlee, and Lois Brownlee Pfau, grandchildren Rob (wife Joni) Hartford, Ryan (fiancé Brandy) Hartford, Shane (wife Connie) Long, Spencer (wife Katie) Long, Stacie (husband Tad) StClaire, Nick Roehl, Alex (fiance’ Ema’lee) Roehl, 18 great grandkids, 2 great great-grandkids, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Dick, sister Mary Beth, parents Ted and Claudia Brownlee, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Roehl.
