Billy L. Russell 88 of Lewistown died Monday afternoon, September 23, 2019 in the Central Montana Nursing & Rehab Center of natural causes. His kids were able to say goodbye during his brief stay in the center in Lewistown. He was born June 11, 1931 in Chelsea, Oklahoma the son of D. Lee and Lucile (Jefferies) Russell. He started his education in Oklahoma and then as a teenager the family moved to Oregon where he completed his education with a Masters in Education. He was a teacher and High School Administrator in Central Point, OR for thirty years. One of his proudest moments was being named an honorary chapter farmer in FFA.
He was an avid fisherman, bird hunter and also enjoyed hunting deer, elk and antelope. His woodcarving hobby began in Boy Scouts and resulted in numerous different pieces throughout his life. All of these were either given away or donated as fundraisers for the Crater Foundation.
He is survived by his children Jeff (Chris) Russell of Lewistown, MT and Hope Russell (Jon Eubanks) of Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren, Rebekah, Jarrod and Caleb.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Jane and second wife Carol Mahaffey and his parents.
No services will be held at this time for Billy L. Russell cremation has taken place at his request. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
