Bobbie R. Catron

July 30, 1923 — April 14, 2020

Bobbie R. Catron 96 of Lewistown died Tuesday morning, April 14th, 2020 at his home of natural causes. He was born July 30, 1923 the son of O.H. (Bob) and Fern (Clark) Catron on a homestead in Carter County what is called Long Pines. He was the third of six children and the oldest son. After leaving the ranch in the early 1940's he found work in Billings, MT doing shoe repair and other odd jobs. While in Billings he met the love of his life Victoria M. Herbold. His wandering feet took him to Homer, Alaska in1949 and he found work on a cannery boat for 2 years. He returned to Great Falls, MT in the fall of 1951 and on February 23, 1952 he was united in marriage to Victoria. They returned to Alaska where he worked in a shoe repair shop in Anchorage. Expecting their first child in February of 1953 they traveled the Alcan Highway in a 1947 Jeep in the middle of winter to Great Falls. Soon after, Bob and Vicky moved to Butte for a year and then moved to Lewistown to be close to his parents and for employment. Bob worked several jobs of which were at the old Brick Yard, Shoe Repair Shops and several years on the Strain Ranch near Hanover. He then began working as a custodian for School District #1 for 26 years retiring in 1985. Mr. Bob as he was called by the school children, was loved by all and he truly enjoyed being around the kids every day.

Bob thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years to the fullest, riding his 4-wheeler, hunting coyotes, riding into middle fork, branding calves in the spring and playing pool in the winter.

Bob always had a smile on his face and made it a point to tease anyone he could to make them laugh or smile. A man of many talents and dreams, who loved his family especially his grandkids.

We will miss you Bob, for you are truly one of a kind.

He is survived by his sons Rick (Terri) of Lewistown, Doug (Stephanie) of Great Falls, MT and Dennis of Santa Fe, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren Jason (Austina Lee), Chad (Kristy Hofer), Todd (Whitney), Joshua, Michael, Allison, Anna Lisa, Kevin, Brianne (Clemens Zefferer), and Ryan; 20 great grandchildren Tessa, Liam, Claira, Destyne, Mea, Liam, Rilyn, Townes, Sullivan, Sebe, Jaeki, Taemin, Elizabeth, Deji, Fikayo, Carson, Liam, Henrik Catron and Frederik Zefferer; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three sisters Helen, Mildred and Irene and two brothers Rex and Clyde.
