Cathy Henderson

     Catherine, "Cathy" Frances Henderson, 72, passed away with a loved one, Thursday, June 7, 2018. She passed doing what she loved to do… traveling to be with family. Cathy was born June 22, 1945, in Havre, MT, to Greg and Elaine (Hockett) Henderson. She grew up in a large, ranching family in the Bears Paw Mountains. Amongst music, mountains and memories…the stories, also family, fun and faith. She was united in marriage to Glen Pursley and they lived in Zurich and brought 3 children into the family. She later married David Dahlin in 1968 and lived in Havre until moving to Lewistown with their seven children. She developed special relationships during these marriages that have lasted for a lifetime.

     Cathy enjoyed her family, cooking, baking, specialty cakes, gardening, music, square dancing, playing pool, bowling, rodeos, Cowboy Church and the Lord's Prayer. She taught us to be servant hearted and compassionate. We grew up going to nursing homes visiting, singing, and hugging the residents, she often "adopted", many elderly lonely people and made them meals, went grocery shopping and had birthday parties for them. One of the best gifts in life for her was when her parents and GRANDparents moved closer. She spent as much time as she could with them…even baiting hooks for her Dad.

     One of her greatest joys was being with her children, siblings and extended family, later traveling to her children's home and trying to be there when her GRANDchildren were born, later for birthdays and to help out as needed. It was important to honor family members. She initiated and wrote an autobiography of her father Gregory Henderson and Grandfather Fred Henderson and they were inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame.

     Cathy's residence was in Lewistown, MT and the surrounding areas, where Mom had many good friends. Her wish was not go be in a nursing home so later in life her home was where ever her children and GRANDchildren were.

     She is survived by her children Tammi Pursley of Havre, MT, Wade Pursley (Des), of Zurich, MT, Dawn Gibbs (Kevin) of Circle, MT, Dallas McCommon (Gene) of Belgrade, MT, Darla Pyles (Todd) of Lewistown, MT, David Dahlin Jr. of Harlem, MT, Dixie Yeager of Columbia Falls, MT and Danny Dahlin of Circle, MT; siblings Sharon (Clint) Martin of Grass Range, Carol (Lester) Sluggett of Roy, MT, Linda (John) Warburton of Havre, MT, Jerry (Cheryl) Henderson of Blackfoot, ID, and Cindy of Havre, MT; and 26 GRANDchildren; 9 Great GRANDchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Greg Jr., Jim, sisters Sarah, Mary and Rita Andrews; children Wesley Pursley and Dale Dahlin. GRANDS Kayla and others Great GRANDS Paige, Kenley and others.

     We will miss the birthday cards that she never failed to send every birthday, her sense of humor and her tender heart.

     Funeral Services for Cathy F. Henderson will be Thursday, June 14, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Celebration Community Fellowship, in Lewistown, MT. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
