Darius Walter

A golden heart stopped beating today, hardworking hands at rest, God broke our heart to prove to us that he only takes the best. Darius J. Walter passed away peacefully October 10,2020 at age 91 at Central Montana Medical Center. Darius was born January 17, 1929 in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada to Jacob and Susanna (Hofer) Walter. In 1944 the family moved to Lewistown, MT and resided at Spring Creek Colony. On June 26^th, 1960, Darius married the love of his life and soulmate Mary A. Stahl from Ayers Colony, Grass Range, MT. They were blessed with 60 wonderful years together and from that union raised 6 children.  Darius was a man of few words, dedicated his life to hard work, helping others, fixing what needed to be fixed, willing to teach the next generation and always working on some secret project with a mischievous glint in his eyes. He took pride and joy in carpentry, wood working skills and farming, but his greatest accomplishment were his children.

He is survived by his wife Mary; sons Tim (Susan) Walter  and Steve (Esther) Walter all of Spring Creek Colony, Ken (Pam) Walter of Helena, MT, Gary (Tyra) of Great Falls, MT; daughters Anna (John) Hofer of King Colony, MT, Debbie (Wade) Stein of Lewistown, MT; three sister in laws; Kate, Rachel, Kathryn and 10 wonderful grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jake, Joe, George, Paul, Eli and two sisters Dora and Anna.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the righteous Judge, will award to me. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Funeral services for Darius J. Walter will be at Spring Creek Colony, Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with committal to follow in the Spring Creek Colony Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family. During these trying and unforeseen circumstances the family strongly encourages everyone to wear a mask and maintain adequate social distancing if you are planning to attend.
