Doris Ann Donaldson 86 of Denton passed away Monday evening, March 25th, 2019 of heart failure in Benefis Healthcare in Great Falls. She was born September 23, 1932 in Columbus, MT the daughter of Vernon and Ethel (Weppler) Kenyon. She joined older brother Ralph and 3years later younger brother Bob. The family moved to Livingston when she was in the 7th grade, she made lifetime friends there and completed high school, graduating from Park County High School. She then attended Eastern Montana College in Billings and graduated with a degree in elementary education. While in college she became lifetime friends with Phyllis (Donaldson) Senef who later set her brother Howard up with Doris on a blind date.
Following college, she taught kindergarten for three years in Lewistown. On June 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to Howard Donaldson in Livingston. They made their home on a farm east of Denton the remainder of her life. In 1958 Howard and Doris started their family, she had four children Dwight, Lloyd, Terri and Ronalea.
She worked alongside her husband and was a helpmate to him. She taught Sunday school for 25 years, cooked, canned and gardened. She washed clothes and dishes by packing water in and out as they had no running water for 18 years. She took care of her family members including her grandchildren serving hot meals in the harvest field. Doris sewed most of the family clothes for 35 years as well as for missionaries. She enjoyed her flowers, baking pies and buns, frying chicken and extending hospitality to family, friends and neighbors through her cards, food and being interested in their lives. She really enjoyed serving people.
Doris is survived by her husband of 64 years Howard of Denton, her children Dwight (Brenda) Lloyd (Tami) all of Denton, Terri of Anchorage, AK and Ronalea (Stephen) Gordon of Bozeman, MT; brother Ralph Kenyon in Florida, sister-in-law Carol (Kenyon) Thompson of Oregon, brother-in-law Harold (June) Donaldson of Lewistown; 14 grandchildren Stephanie, Gina (Drew), Dan, Addie, Riley, Parker, Callie, Jessica (Michael), Travis (Camille), Logan, Emily, Spencer, Trevor and Tyler; 6 great grandchildren Connor, Preston, Mason, Ty, Flint and Ella and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Bob, sister-in-law Dalcie, brother and sister-in-law Rusty and Phyllis.
Funeral Services for Doris will be Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denton Town Hall. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
