Doris F. Jeffery 84 of Winifred died Monday afternoon at the Central Montana Medical Center following a short illness. She was born March 15, 1934 near Roy in a Little Log Cabin the daughter of Lyle and Martha (LaFountain) Waits. She received her schooling and graduated from Winifred High School. On March 15, 1954 she was united in marriage to Melvin C Jeffrey in Billings, MT. They made their home near Denton on the family ranch and were blessed with 3 children, Wayne, Susan and Jody. In 1976 they moved to Winifred and purchased the Down Below Bar which they owned and operated until their retirement.
Melvin preceded her in death in 2002, she continued living in Winifred until 2014 when she moved to the Meadows in Lewistown, where she met many new friends.
Doris's door was always open to family, friends and anyone else that wanted to visit. She was always making new friends.
Doris was active in the Denton Fair & Horse Show. She enjoyed riding horses, bowling, playing pool, camping and fishing.
She was member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Winifred.
She is survived by her daughters Susan Barnes of Helena, MT and Jody Olson of Denton, MT; one brother Richard Waits of Oregon; four sisters Betty Montgomery and Peggy Folda both of Lewistown, MT, Bobbi Stivchitis and Birdie Kirk both in Oregon; 4 grandchildren, Jolie Saisbury, Somer VanLith, Calub Herman and Jeffery Barnes 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son Wayne in 1992, son-in-law Doug Barnes in 2005, 2 brothers, 1 sister and her parents.
Memorial Services for Doris F. Jeffery will be Friday, August 31st, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Winifred Community Center with committal to follow in the Winifred Cemetery. At her request cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
