Jean Roper, 83, of Lewistown passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Billings Clinic in Billings. She was born July 18, 1940 in Lewistown, MT to her parents Irving and Naomi (Melton) Lincoln. Jean was raised and graduated high school in Denton, MT. Jean married Don Thomas and to this union, 4 children were born Tammi, Karl, David, and Les. Don and Jean later divorced. Jean was also married to Bill Roper and Dan Gauer Nelson, both preceded her in death.
Jean worked various jobs throughout her life including Tastee Freeze, Mr. M Disposal and Fergus Farm Mutual Insurance for 11 years. But the job she spoke of most, was her time at the Eagles Club where she planned, prepared, and served many special event meals including the very popular Stag Night. Jean worked at the Eagles Club for many years and was greatly appreciated by all for her delicious food served throughout the years.
Jean was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and volunteered for many years as a Pink Lady at CMMC, where she brightened the day of many with her smile and conversation while delivering mail. Jean also knitted many newborn hats for the new deliveries at CMMC. Jean also played a big part in the Blood Mobile. She took great pride in organizing the drives and getting to know all the people who came to give blood, she was still involved up until her death.
Jean had many friends who she would keep in contact with over Facebook and enjoyed going for lunch or coffee when able. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Jean enjoyed knitting, a good cup of hot tea, and tending to her large amount of beautiful house plants.
She is survived by her daughter Tammi Anderson of Ontonagon, Michigan, sons Karl Thomas (Jackie) of Lewistown, David Thomas (Kim) of Billings, MT, and Les Thomas of Laurel, MT, brother Donnie Lincoln of Kamloops, British Columbia, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband Albert Roper, husband Dan Gauer, and parents Irving and Naomi Lincoln.
Graveside services will be Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10:30 am at the Lewistown City Cemetery. Reverend Kimmy Briggs will be officiating. Please join the family following the service for a reception at the Fergus County Council on Aging in Lewistown, MT.
