Edna N. Wegner 98 of Winifred and formerly of Missoula died early Sunday morning, March 17th, 2024, in Valle Vista Manor of natural causes. She was born October 4, 1925 in Wyoming the daughter of Jacob and Molly (Freauff) Nuse. She received her education in St. Ignatius, MT where she graduated High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Walter G. Wegner on December 16, 1945 in Missoula. They made their home in St. Ignatius where he worked for the Montana Department of Highways. They moved to Ronan and later to Plains until settling in Missoula. Walter preceded her in death in 1974. She worked at JC Penney as the Catalog Manager until her retirement in 1989. She moved to Winifred that year and made her home until moving to Valle Vista in 2021.
Edna was an active member of the Winifred American Lutheran Church, was a member of the Winifred Garden Club and the Winifred Pinocle and Bridge Club.
She is survived by her children, Rod Wegner of East Helena, MT, Diane (Charles) Philp of Winifred, MT, Carol (Kim) Sibert, Sharon Jochinson and Jean (Wade) McCrea all of Missoula, MT; one brother Jim Nuse in California: 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Memorial Graveside Services for Edna Wegner will be on Saturday, June 15th , 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula, where cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Friends are asked to make memorials to the Winifred American Lutheran Church, or the charity of their choice and they may be left with the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted below.
