Elizabeth Ann (Nicoll) Lehfeldt 91, of Laurel and formerly of Lewistown passed away in the early morning hours of February 19, 2021. She was born in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 1930 the daughter and only child of Andrew "Nick" and Margaret (McPherson) Nicoll.
Dede grew up in the Los Angeles area. She moved with her family to Douglas, Wyoming as a teenager. There her parents owned the "Kandy Koop" and Dede helped out after school. The last two years of high school, Dede attended North Hollywood High, as her father worked in the motion picture business in old-time westerns.
Upon graduation, Dede moved to Lewistown, Montana to attend St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Dede graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1952. Dede treasured the many friendships that she made while going to nursing school.
On December 15, 1951 Dede was united in marriage to Oswald "Gilbert" Lehfeldt in Los Angeles, California. They spent their early years in Stanford, Montana and Lewistown where they raised their two children, Chris (Holly) Lehfeldt and Cathy (Jerry) Williams. Dede and Gil were married for nearly 69 years. Gil passed away less than 3 months ago. We all take solace in the fact that they are together once again.
Dede worked as an RN for many years in various places in Lewistown including St. Joseph's Hospital, The State Home for the Aged, Valle Vista Manor, and as a medical officer with the Civil Air Patrol. She also was a tireless volunteer for the March of Dimes, as she had been stricken with polio as a teenager and she appreciated the help she had received.
Dede's greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved each and every one abundantly. She was the hugging kind of grandma, that made each one feel special. Dede was a character and kept us all laughing. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest assets.
Dede is survived by her son Chris (Holly) Lehfeldt of Billings, Montana; daughter Cathy (Jerry) Williams of Laurel, Montana; grandchildren Brock (Rebekah) Williams, Cara (Zach) Waitman, Erika (Bill) Wilson, Kelsey (Chad) Gluhm; and eleven great-grandchildren, Kaden, Brecken, Alexa, Camden, Kyler, Mathias, Keaton, Kolby, Henry, Kooper, and Kinley; one brother-in-law Herbert Lehfeldt, one sister-in-law Sylvia Fred and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held for Elizabeth "Dede" Lehfeldt on Saturday, March 6th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cloyd Chapel with committal of both Dede and Gil to follow at the Lewistown City Cemetery, cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
