Emil P. Anich

Emil P. (Scrappy) Anich, 88, of Roy passed away Sunday evening, May 12th, 2019 at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown with his family by his side.  He was born January 27, 1931 in Sterling, CO the son of Louis and Mary (Lakey) Anich.  He received his schooling in Sterling and then began working on farms around Sterling.  In 1948 he entered the United States Army serving in Korea.  He received his discharge in 1950 and returned to Sterling.  In 1955 he was united in marriage to Martha Jane Burnworth in Haxtun, CO, where they started their family with their first two children.  He continued working on farms until the late 1950's when they moved to Tucson, AZ and two more children were added to the family.  He worked as an exterminator and then operated a service station.  The family moved to several places over the next few years until settling in Cut Bank, Montana in 1966.  He moved to Roy, Montana in the late 1970's and worked as a mechanic for Don Johnson.  Throughout his life his nickname was "Scrap Iron or Scrappy".  In 1982 he started his life with his soulmate Wanda (Emery) Kolstad.  In 1991 he began driving truck and Wanda joined him as a driver in 1994.  They drove for Sorlie Trucking and Keller Transport in Billings for a total of 15 years and they retired in 2012.  They made their home in Roy until the time of his death.

Emil enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, fishing, hunting, practical jokes, loved his dogs and he was known by many people, he always enjoyed meeting and visiting with old friend, new friends and new acquaintances.   He was a member of the American Legion Post #96 of Roy.

He is survived by his spouse Wanda of Roy; sons George (Mary) of Browning, MT and Philip (Debbie) of Casper, WY; daughters Mary Lou (Bob) Hauser of Depoe Bay, OR, Monika (George) Taylor of Whitewater, MT and Dyma (Keith) Anderson of Shelley, ID; one sister Ruth Kohler of Sterling, CO; 14 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter Terri Lynn in 1971, his parents, one grandson, four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Services for Emil P. Anich will be Saturday, May 18th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Roy High School with Cremation to follow the services.  Committal will take place at a later date in the Roy Cemetery.  The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
