Florence M. Kozikowski

Florence M. Kozikowski 92 of Lewistown died Wednesday evening in the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes. She was born June 27, 1928 in Bristol, CT. the daughter of Andrea and Sophia (Acampora) Fusco. She received her education in Bristol and then worked at Maclluns 5 and Dime in Bristol. In May of 1948 she was united in marriage to Walter J. Kozikowski Sr.in Bristol. They lived in Bristol and she was a stay at home mother and homemaker while the children were young and in the mid 1960's she went to work as a cook for the Bristol School System. Over the 25yrs as a cook and then head cook Flo or Mrs. K as the students would call her worked at various schools in Bristol but spent her years before retirement at South Side School. After her retirement she substituted in the kitchens for a few years. She retired from the school district in the late 1980's. Walter preceded her in death in 1981.  She continued to live in Bristol, enjoying traveling to Italy, taking a cruise, going to Disneyworld with grandchildren and family and her trips to Montana to visit her daughter and family. Her trips to Montana took in all of what Montana had to offer from the National Parks, to the historical sites and even whitewater rafting. In 2012 she made Lewistown, Montana her home until the time of her death.

Florence enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards, traveling and most of all visiting with family and friends. She could be found following her grandchildren in all of there activities from a National Football Championship game to dance recitals, soccer meets, wrestling tournaments in Conn. To State A Football Championship game, wrestling tournaments and summer swim meets throughout Montana. She could be found working in the snack shack at the Lewistown City Pool to helping with various fundraising dinners for her favorite Lewistown teams and groups. She was also a big help after her move to Montana with her grandson Joseph getting him ready for school and visiting with the bus people each day as she would get Joseph to and from the bus.

She was a member of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Osia Club both of Bristol, CT.

She is survived by three children sons Walter Jr. (Pam) and Paul (Linda) both of Bristol, CT, one daughter Linda (Mike) Rinaldi of Lewistown, MT; nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Committal will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with her husband in Bristol, CT next year, cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family,
