Georgia L. Potter

June 22, 1942 — July 10, 2016

Georgia L. Potter 74 of Lewistown died early Friday morning at her home of cancer. She was born June 22, 1942 near Hot Springs, Montana. She was adopted as a small child, living in Butte until moving to Lewistown where she received her education.

On September 2, 1960 she was united in marriage to Bill C. Potter in Lewistown. They moved to Cheyenne, WY where their son Tim was born.  They moved to Northern California and their daughter Kim was born. They moved to Hawaii where they lived until returning to Lewistown in 1974.

She worked in food service at the Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center until retiring after 22 years in 1990. They traveled following their retirement to California, Nevada and Arizona but always had their home in Lewistown. Bill preceded her in death in 2007.

Georgia loved to crochet and taught her daughter, granddaughters and nieces the crochet. She also enjoyed sewing and every morning doing her cross puzzles.

She is survived by one daughter Kim (Jody) Gibbs of Lewistown, MT; brother Bart Davis; sisters Elizabeth Smith and Mary Kurns; daughter-in-law Trina Potter of Lewistown, MT; nieces and nephews she raised as her children: Ron Sims of Henderson, NV, Shirley Murdock of Lewistown, MT, Diana Dull and Colleen Brinson both of Billings, MT; seven grandchildren Tiffany Potter, Kristy Rooney, Kendra Gibbs, Kylea Gibbs, Taryn Tindall, Jerad Potter and Kelsey Petro; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son Tim, nephew Don Sims, her parents, five brothers and one sister.

Funeral Services for Georgia L. Potter will be Wednesday, July 27th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with interment to follow in the Lewistown City Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Friends are asked to make memorials the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Billings or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
