Gerald Wohlk

November 22, 1939 — November 21, 2022

Gerald “Jerry” Wohlk passed away on November 21, 2022, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on November 22, 1939, in Ward County, North Dakota.

He attended school in Willison North Dakota until he joined the Navy 1958. While in the Navy, he was an engineman, operating and maintaining diesel engines on the USS Staten Island AGB-5 ice breaker ship. The Navy is where he developed his skill and appreciation for metal and iron work. After the Navy, he joined the Washington-Idaho Union and worked as a millwright.

On December 15, 1965, he married the love of his life, Linda. In July 1972, they had two children – twins, Brian and Brandy. Their early years as a family were spent in Lolo MT. Jerry’s job as a millwright required him to travel which meant he was away from his beloved wife and kids. In 1975, they purchased a home in Kolin MT. On this small farm they had horses, pigs, chickens, geese, turkeys, and ducks and grew large gardens.

In 1978, tired of being away from his family, he started a mobile welding business, Jerry’s Welding Service. He spent many years traveling to farms and ranches to do repairs. He worked on many grain elevators and power plants throughout the state as well as the city sewer plant in Lewistown MT. He was a skilled craftsman who could repair anything from farm equipment to industrial machinery and equipment. He put his welder away and hung up his welding leads in 2005.

Throughout his life, he always looked forward to hunting and fishing adventures with family and friends. He loved to tell stories and razz people with his playful nature. He had a quick wit that would bring a smile to your face or make you laugh. He cherished his grandkids and followed them to their many sporting events.

Jerry leaves behind his son Brian (Barb) and grandchildren Jennifer Johnson (Hans Rouse) great-grandchildren (Oldin and Devik Ruocco); Amanda Carroll, great-grandchildren (Alora and Aleia Carroll); Kimberly (Deryk) VanZee, great-grandchildren (Daxon and Kazen); his daughter Brandy (Gary) Potter, grandchildren Alex, Haydn (Max Hertel) and Keaton Potter.

The family would like to thank CMMC, Dr Michael Sura and the staff at Valley Vista Nursing Home that provided compassion and care during Dad’s time there. During his time at Valle Vista he gained many new friends.

The family would like to invite friends and family to join us on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, at the Yogo Inn for coffee and cookies at 2:00 PM to share stories and memories. Private graveside services will be held in the Mount Calvary Cemetery with the Cloyd Funeral Home assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com
