Harold L. Conrad 97 of Lewistown died Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at his home of natural causes. He was born October 6, 1921 in Marysville, Ohio the son of Lawrence and Eva (Grossnickle) Conrad. He received his education in Indiana and Michigan where he graduated high school. Then served in the United States Army from August of 1940, participating in the engagement at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 until receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1945. On March 2, 1945 he was united in marriage to Katherine E. Phillips in Kingman, AZ. He returned to Michigan where he received his degree in 1949. He then worked for North American Aviation in Los Angeles, CA as a propulsion engineer and then a rocket engineer until 1970 when he opened a family department store in Crestline, CA. They operated that business until 1979 when they sold it and moved to Lewistown. In Lewistown he worked for the Soil Conservation Service from 1981 to 1987 when he retired.

He enjoyed rock cutting and polishing, he was known as a rock hound and he loved to read.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewistown, Fergus Post #16 American Legion, Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Friends of the Library, Lewistown Genealogy Society and Lewistown Duplicate Bridge Club.

He is survived by one daughter Katherine L. (Philip) Ault of Lewistown; one granddaughter, two great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

His wife preceded him in death in 2011, his parents and three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

Memorial Services for Harold L. Conrad will be Tuesday, October 8th, 2019 at Noon in the First Presbyterian Church committal has taken place in the Lewistown City Cemetery, cremation has taken place with the Cloyd Funeral Home assisting the family.
