Hazel Nelson 91 of Lewistown died Saturday afternoon, June 8th 2019 in the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes. She was born September 13, 1927 in Grass Range, Montana the daughter of Edward and Mattie (Smith) Gray. She received her schooling in the Grass Range School. She lived in the Grass Range area working as a cook on ranches. She was united in marriage to Art Fisher on November 1, 1943 and they later divorced. She married Eugene Nelson on January 24, 1958 in Harlowton, Montana and they made their home in Lewistown. She worked in housekeeping at the Mountain View Motel, the Sunset Motel and Valle Vista Manor, retiring as supervisor in the 1980's. They continued to live in Lewistown and she was active as a volunteer with the Fergus County Council on Aging. He preceded her in death in 1974. She continued as a volunteer serving 15 years with Grub Steaks.
Hazel enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidering and helping others.
She is survived by three daughters Janet (Larry) Lucas of Bismarck, ND, Frances Talbot of Great Falls, MT and Barbara (Louie) Miros of Helena, MT; five grandchildren six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son in 2004, three daughters, her parents, one brother, two sisters, one son-in-law and her campanion of many years Harry Arthur.
Funeral Services for Hazel Nelson will be Friday, June 14th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with Committal to follow in the Lewistown City Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Friends are asked to make memorials to the Shrine Cripple Children's Hospital, Shodair Childrens Hospital, Hospice of Central Montana or the charity of their choice and they may be left with the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com.
