Iris L. Vergason

February 5, 1932 — August 23, 2021

Iris Lucille Jimmerson Vergason. 89 of Lewistown MT passed away on Monday morning, August 23, 2021, at Valle Vista Manor in Lewistown where she resided the last few years.  She was born February 5, 1932, in Lewistown the daughter of George (Shorty) and Jessie (Turner) Jimmerson.  Mom attended school in Lewistown graduating from Fergus High School in 1950.  Born the second youngest of 9 children to off springs of true pioneers, Mom loved the country life and reminiscing of all the good times growing up. She loved to tell of riding her horse Sparkie and tending to the animals and showing in 4-H.

Mom married our dad, Frank Vergason on February 1, 1953 in Lewistown, MT.  They spent a couple of years back East in NY and Pennsylvania before then making their permanent home in Lewistown.  Mom was a stay-at-home Mom for many years.  She also worked for Central Montana Hospital in the Laundry dept.

Mom loved animals and the outdoors.  Fishing and camping were a usual outing for the family.  Many times she would out fish us all.   Trips to the country visiting relatives happened often.   She always had a large garden and flower beds to keep her, and all of us kids busy.  Getting up early and weeding before going to "play" for the day was usually required.  She was fiercely independent and stubborn.  She was proud, she was selfless.  Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune were an almost daily ritual.  She liked Dr. Pol and any other animal vet show. She loved ice cream and frozen yogurt.  She liked to listen to the ball games on her radio and watch her favorite team the Seattle Seahawks play on TV. She liked to joke around and laugh.  She always made sure to send birthday cards to all her kids, grandkids and then the great grandkids.  This happened until she could no longer hold her hands steady to write, but she always asked about and wanted to make sure that everyone was "okay" and "alright".  In her last weeks she made sure to say that she was okay and happy.  She wanted everyone to know that she loved them and told us so.  She always wanted the best for us all.

Iris is survived by her sons Alan of Seattle WA, Russell of Lewistown, MT; daughters Cindy (Greg) Burch of Lewistown, MT and Sandy (Russel) Struck of Hardin, MT and stepson Ron Goery of NV; brothers Roy of Kalispell, MT and Richard Dick) in California;, sister Ruth Dalton of Lewistown,  MT and sister-in-law Jean Jimmerson of Lewistown, MT; grandchildren: Joshua (Marla) Vergason, Justin (Meagan) Vergason, Gregory Burch, Jon (Rhiannon) Burch, Chris (Bethany) Burch, Cody Burch, Julie (Tim) Shick, Kristopher (Katie) Thatcher, Brittany and Brandon Struck;  great grandchildren Reata, Carter, Cooper, Cash, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Noah, Judah, Selah, Elijah, Myla, Owen, Bailey, Liam, Charlie, Kayden, Lyndon and Henry and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2010, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
