James Edward Butcher Jr., known as Jimmy or “Big Jim” to his family was born on July 5, 1961, at Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia and moved to Texas as a baby. He moved to Montana later in life due to health issues a community in Stanford, Montana, which he loved being a part of. When he found Montana, he found a part of himself that wasn’t there before. His love for nature only grew in Montana. He would sit and watch the wildlife, snow, and every bit of nature that would cross his path. He shared his home with his two dogs, Bonnie and Jenny, who were like his children. Everyone who knew him, knew Bonnie and Jenny. He had a huge heart and would help anyone who needed it and would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed visiting Andy’s Barber Shop and talking with everyone there. He had a special place in his heart for his little buddy, his Great Nephew, Chance. While living in Texas, he and Chance would sit on the couch together and watch television or listen to birds outside. He was truly at peace in his little home, his little perfect piece of Earth. This was his life, his heaven on Earth. Although he wasn’t born in Montana, Stanford was home. Nothing on Earth could ever have made him leave his peace, his home, Stanford. His health progressively declined over the last few years. The Lord called him home on November 11, 2022. Jimmy is survived by his parents, Fern and Don Chandler, his sister, Jacqueline Glass, his brother, Michael Butcher, and his great nephew, Chance. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, James Butcher Sr, brother-in-law, Joe Faterkowski, and nephew MJ Butcher.
I MADE IT HOME
I just wanted to let you know I made it home.
Everything is so pretty here, so fresh, so new. I wish that you could close your eyes and see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand. God is taking care of me… I’m in the shelter of his hands.
Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying, and I’ll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing. I really have to go now, I’ve just got to try my wings.
P.S. I’ll be the first to see you when you get here!
