Jane L. McGiboney 77 of Lewistown died Thursday morning, December 7th, 2017 in Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes. She was born January 3, 1940 in Shelton, WA the daughter of John and Nedra (Day) Bevis. The family moved to Cat Creek, Montana in 1945. They also lived in the Snowy Mountains, Mosby, Cut Bank, Roundup and Billings where she received her schooling. The family moved to California in 1957 and she graduated from High School in Citrus Heights, CA in 1959. She then worked for the State of California in various positions and finally that of executive secretary to the Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol. She moved to Lewistown in 1966 and worked at Cooley Chevrolet. On March 2, 1968 she was united in marriage to Hanley McGiboney in Winnett and they made their home on the family ranch on the Musselshell River south of Mosby. They lived and raised their family there until moving to Lewistown in 1987. In Lewistown she worked in retail sales and as a bookkeeper. In 1993 they moved to Great Falls and managed a motel until 1997 when they returned to Lewistown to retire.
Jane has a unique and distinct sense of humor and wit, and was always cheerful and smiling. She was happiest when serving her delicious meals and desserts to the many lucky people who she called family and friends. She loved shopping at garage sales, where many "family heirlooms" were acquired. She enjoyed attending church, and her faith brought her happiness, strength and guidance. She was a proud wife, sister, mother and recently grandmother and enjoyed telling stories of various shenanigans performed by her sons and brothers. She often boasted of her prowess behind the wheel of a car, calling her talent "expert driving".
She is survived by her husband Hanley and son Monty of Lewistown, son Glen (Megan) of Bozeman, MT; brothers Mike (Barbara) Bevis of Yreka, CA and Dan (Donna) Bevis of Klamath Falls, OR; grandchildren Davensky, Carry and Isemaella of Bozeman, MT and several nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life for Jane McGiboney will be held later, at her request cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Friends are asked to make memorials to the Gift of Life Foundation or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
