Jean E Jimmerson

Jean Ella (Walker) Jimmerson, age 95½ died on August 20th, 2022 of a desire to go home to be with Jesus. Jean was born to Thomas and Gladys (Belcher) Walker on February 27, 1927 at their home near Moore. She was the third of five children and grew up on that farm/ranch near Moore. She went to grade school at Seright School and graduated from Moore High School in 1944.



Jean captured the heart of Murray Calvin Jimmerson while teaching school at Salt Creek and they were married in 1949. They built their home on Salt Creek and lived there until 2011 when she and Murray moved into Lewistown and in 2021 she moved into her daughter Debbie’ home for her last year. Jean and Murray raised 7 children, had 20 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.



She partnered with Murray in farming and ranching as well as driving a school bus route for the Lewistown school district for nearly 20 years. Because of the bus, she drove for different groups (including 4-H) on trips throughout the state as well as trips to other states. People will still say, “I rode your parent’s bus when we took that trip….”



Besides her husband Murray, there were several things that Mom loved. She loved her kids and there is still debate on who was her favorite. We all felt so well loved. She loved playing cards and she blessed her family with many wild card games. She loved sports more than most and was quite knowledgeable about many different activities. Mom could talk professional football, baseball, golf, and even curling if you would sit and listen! For many years (well into her 60’s) Jean played slo-pitch softball in the local woman’s league in Lewistown. When she was 72, she came out of retirement and played for 1 season with her daughters and granddaughters! She was an excellent pitcher and her daughters were always glad they didn’t have to go to bat against her. One of her proudest moments was being inducted into the Montana Softball Hall of Fame in 1989. She also enjoyed being involved with woman’s volleyball, either playing or watching. Another love was playing her Kazoo in the kitchen band. She was proud of the fact that she had her driver’s license renewed when she was nearly 95! During Mom’s last years of many doctors’ appointments, she had such a list of favorite doctors and their nurses and receptionists. They seemed to love her as much as she loved them. She was a character.



Mom was preceded in death by her husband Murray Jimmerson, mother, father, daughter Brenda Stahl, sons-in-law Jeff McCarty and Chris Swanson, grandson Levi McCarty, brothers Rex and George Walker, and sisters Betty Jo Rasmussen and Donna Marlay. She is survived by daughter Susan Jimmerson of Aurora, Co; son Mick (Denise) Jimmerson, daughter Debbie (Rick) Hill, son–in-law Henry Stahl all of Lewistown, son Dennis (Leslie) Jimmerson of Helena, MT; daughter Peggy (Todd) Spear of Buffalo, MT and son Scott (Trish) Jimmerson of Coeur d’Alene, ID. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.



Jean chose to be cremated and will have her ashes spread on the family ranch or we’ll save them to put in a softball so we can continue to play with her. A Memorial service will be held at Central Baptist Church in Lewistown at 10:00 am, September 3rd, 2022.
