Joyce M. Dimock

          Joyce M. Dimock 89 of Lewistown passed away peacefully in Valle Vista Manor on Thursday morning, June 24^th, 2021. She was born on May 27^th, 1932 in Richmond, California to Donald and Jewel (Old) Dimock. She joined her older brother Donald. The family moved to Honolulu, HI where her father worked for C&H Sugar. She was an excellent swimmer and loved the sun, sand and water. Joyce graduated from Punahou High School in 1949 and soon she met Jimmy Crumal who was stationed there with the US Coast Guard. They were married on September 28^th, 1950 and moved back to the mainland in 1951 where they had four children. Christopher Dennis in 1951, Michael Stephen in 1953, Lori Anne in 1954 and Diana Dawn in 1956. They moved several times due to Jimmie's jobs living mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area.

     In 1973 Jimmie and Joyce moved to McCall, ID. There they bought a home and turned the living room into the only book store in McCall at that time. Ever since she'd gotten her first library card at the age of 6, she had an insatiable love of books. To have her own book store was her dream. In 1975 they moved to Whitefish, MT and opened a second-hand store. Good junk was almost as good as books.

     Jimmie and Joyce were divorced in 1993 and she moved on to Missoula, MT. There she worked at the Missoula Art Museum and loved it. Later moving to Hamilton, MT and in 2008 to Lewistown, MT.

   Joyce was an incredible artist of many mediums. Professionally she painted wall murals and portraits of people, pets and landscapes. Her wildlife paintings were sold in art galleries in Whitefish and Kalispell. She got bored with the normalcy of her paintings and began to create deconstructed furniture pieces that were sold in Missoula area art galleries. She was a published author of a cookbook, Lively Lemon Recipes, all her own original recipes, brought about by the lemon tree we had in our backyard. All pictures were hand carved wood prints done by her.

     Joyce was a self-taught herbalist, loved concocting teas and remedies. She spent as much time in her herb gardens as possible. All Christmas Cards were silk screened on the same screen she had used for over 30 years. One of her greatest joys was buying an old printing press from a local Montana Newspaper which led her to writing and printing her own books.

     Joyce is survived by her children Chris (Vicki) of Whitefish, MT, Lori Crumal of Bandon, OR and Diana (Paul) Harris of Lewistown, MT; five grandchildren Justin (Brandy) Tiffany, Rick (Sara) Marsh, Chris Ochoa, Elizabeth (Chris) Ochoa and Mathew Ochoa; four great grandchildren Jaiden, Alyson, Smanatha and Kaitlin.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald, ex-husband Jimmie and infant son Michael Stephen.

     No Services will be held for Joyce M. Dimock, at her request cremation has taken place and committal will be at a later date in Central Montana Memorial Gardens. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.

     To her wonderful care givers over the last 12 years, THANK YOU for your kindness and understanding. Huge appreciation to Crystal who was there with her from the beginning.

     There is no doubt that Mom is already painting mural on Heaven's Walls and giddy over all the books Heaven holds!
