Julia Barber

Julia "Judy" E. (Wieters) Barber, 74, of Lewistown and former Stanford resident, died early Monday morning, October 16th, 2017, at the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes.  She was born April 4, 1943 in Scotland, SD, the daughter of Ralph and Frances (Fithian) Wieters.  She graduated from Scotland High School and attended National College in Rapid City, SD.  On April 17, 1966 she was united in marriage to Mahlon D. Barber in Scotland, SD. While Mahlon worked for Boeing, they traveled to many locations across the United States until 1976 where they settled in Stanford. She was active with her kids and community while at home until the mid-1980's when she began to work as a cook at the Stanford School and operated the J&M Trailer Park. She retired from the school in the mid 2000's and continued to live in Stanford. In 2012, Judy moved into the Eagles Manor in Lewistown and then in 2015 she moved to the Caslen Living Center where she continued to live her life until her passing. Judy enjoyed being around and helping people which always included the community, school and the Presbyterian Church. She was also an active member with the American Legion Auxiliary and the Stanford Woman's Club.

Judy is survived by daughter Deborah (Larry) Pratt of Lewistown; son Shawn (Janell) Barber of Fort Benton, MT; granddaughter Brittany Pratt (Lucca) of Bozeman, MT; sister Kay Streeter of Buffalo Gap, SD; and several nieces and nephews.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Frances Wieters, her husband Mahlon, daughter Michelle Renae, and granddaughter Megan Renee.

 

Funeral services for Julia (Judy) Barber will be Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stanford Presbyterian Church with committal to follow in the Stanford Cemetery.  The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
