Larry E. Clinton

June 6, 1942 — October 17, 2019

Larry E. Clinton 77 of Lewistown passed away early Thursday morning, October 17th, 2019 in St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings of a heart attack. He was born June 6, 1942 in Alliance, NE the son of Everett and Lily (Simpson) Clinton. He attended school and graduated from Glenrock High School in Glenrock, WY. He then attended Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska where he excelled in football. It was here he met his wife Jean Reiman and they were united in marriage on August 4, 1963 in Virginia, NE.

Larry went to work for El Paso Natural Gas Company as a pipeline testing technician and traveled Arizona, New Mexico and Texas testing high pressure gas lines. Wanting to get out of the South and back to the mountains he loved, he moved his family to Lewistown in 1979 and began his career working for Montana Power Company as a welder in the gas department, he retired as the gas foreman in 2000.

Larry's greatest love was his family. He seldom missed a game or event of any of his grandchildren. He was most at home in the mountains on his trusty steed Skid or on the lake with his old pole in hand. He knew no strangers and was always quick to lend a helping hand. Larry lived his life always putting others first and himself second.

Larry was proud to be a part of the re-building of the youth baseball program in Lewistown.

He was a member of the Eagles and Elks Lodges of Lewistown, the Masonic Lodge in El Paso, TX and Jason's Twirlers.

He is survived by his wife Jean, son Jim (Monica) of Lewistown; daughter Darla (Larry) Meadors of Kalispell; brother Everett (Janet) in Washington; his treasured grandchildren Jacob and Luke Clinton, Brandon (Sammi) Meadors and Micah (Parker) Basham; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition, Larry leaves behind many young people who became such an important part of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

A Celebration of Life for Larry Clinton will be Friday, November 15th, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Eagles Club. Cremation has taken place as per his wishes. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
