Lloyd Alvin McGuire

January 14, 1928 — July 11, 2024

Lloyd Alvin McGuire passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was born January 14, 1928 to Agnes Henrietta (Peterson) McGuire and George Orin McGuire in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduation in 1946, Lloyd was drafted into the army and deployed to Japan to serve in the occupational forces.

In 1951, Lloyd moved to Billings, Montana where he met Calista Rose Boniface at a church choir rehearsal. They were married in 1952 and moved back to Minnesota to farm. A son, Michael, was joined by two daughters, Michelle and Susan before returning to Montana in 1957.

Lloyd began working at the Lewistown Auto Supply in 1959, and in 1969 he and Everett Smith purchased the business. Lloyd retired after owning the Lewistown Auto Supply for 35 years in 1994.

Lloyd’s first wife Calista died unexpectedly in 1981. Lloyd then married Vera Hedlun. They were members of the Zion Lutheran Church, Jayson Twirlers Square Dance Club and Elks Country Club. Lloyd and Vera also traveled extensively to Hawaii and around the world, visiting Italy, Greece, England, and Scotland to name a few.

Lloyd enjoyed daily coffees with friends, camping and fishing. He was an avid golfer and very proud of his hole-in-one on Hole #6 on the Elks Club Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Calista, his son-in-law Steve Rademaker, his stepdaughter Carleen Milburn, and his brother George. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vera; his son Michael (Char) of Dripping Springs, Texas; daughters Michelle Andrikopoulos (George) of Red Lodge, Montana; and Susan Rademaker of Spokane, Washington; stepdaughters Glenda Oldenburg (Bob) of Helena, Montana; and Suzie Flentie (Craig) of Lewistown, Montana. Lloyd is also survived by his step-son-in-law Mike Milburn of Cascade, Montana, his younger brother Lee McGuire of Rochester, Minnesota, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are planned for Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Zion Lutheran Church (604 W. Evelyn St.) at 11:00 am with a luncheon following. Memorials can be made in Lloyd’s name to Zion Lutheran Church, Flathead Bible Camp or Council on Aging.
