Loyd T. Bowen

Loyd T. Bowen 87 of Lewistown died Monday afternoon, March 16, 2020 in Valle Vista Manor of natural cause. He was born July 1, 1932 in Lewistown the son of Harry B. and Jenny L. (Thomas) Bowen. He received his schooling in Lewistown graduating from Fergus High School in 1950. He then worked on his father's ranch until 1952 when he entered the United States Army serving in Germany. He served as a communications section leader and patrolled the border between East and West Germany. Following his discharge in 1954 he returned to Lewistown and worked for Charles Fah Welding. He was united in marriage to Pamela Hall of London, England on November 7, 1954 in Lewistown. In 1955 he went to work at Denton Hardware and Implement, until 1958 when he began working at Coast to Coast in Lewistown as a Department Manager. In 1962 Loyd and Pam both went to work for Boeing when they were working in the Lewistown area. Following the completion of the Boeing project he worked for Wier Furniture for one year and then back to Coast to Coast as Assistant Manager in 1965. In 1971 he was hired at the Superintendent of City Operations for the City of Lewistown. In 1980 he went to work for Wickens Brothers Construction, then to Torgerson Tractor in 1983 as Parts Manager. He next started a small construction and handyman business, which his son worked with him and continues to operate. He went worked as a Rural Mail Carrier from 1989 until he retired in 2010.

Loyd enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors playing softball, hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and most all sports. He enjoyed singing and was active in the Church Choir and singing for weddings and funerals.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge serving as Exalted Ruler and as a State District Deputy twice, American Legion Club and the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Pam; son Ron (Connie) all of Lewistown; daughters Karen (John) Johnson in California and Deborah Harant of Denver, CO; Nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents one brother and three sisters.

Services for Loyd T. Bowen will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church, cremation has taken place and committal will be at a later date in the Lewistown City Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
