Mary worked at the gypsum plant east of Lewistown after her high school graduation. She loved her first job. She went on to other challenging jobs in her life; her primary one was being a homemaker and caring for her family. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She met and married William Murphy from Winifred. To this union one daughter was born, Carol Murphy. Bill, Mary, and Carol traversed parts of the State of Montana as Bill did logging in the Flathead and construction work. They later divorced.
Mary worked in Great Falls for some time. She met and married William Gordon. They enjoyed raising horses in Washington state for several years after returning from working Alaska. Bill was on the pipeline. They later moved back to Winifred where they spent about 10 years before moving to Lewistown. Mary helped care for her mother at the nursing home. Mary and Bill did some traveling to North Dakota to see their grandson and family. It was a highlight. Bill and Mary also spent time with Bill’s son and family; Jimm and Judy Gordon and family and Genevieve and family. Many of Mary’s favorite times were spent with her sister Emy, her best friend. They were two peas in a pod throughout their lives. Long shopping trips in Great Falls were a treat. Mary loved her family dearly and cherished all her special visits with her family and friends.
