Mary L. 'Mitzie' Lund

Mary L. "Mitzie" Lund 93 of Lewistown died Wednesday morning, November 11, 2020 in Caslin Living Center in Lewistown of natural causes. She was born May 24, 1927 in Helena, Montana the daughter of George E. and Dorothy (Brown) Pettit. She received her schooling in Hobson and Lewistown graduating from Fergus High School in 1945. She worked at the Judith Theatre following high school and was united in marriage to Laurence A. "Larry" Lund on November 14, 1946 in Lewistown. She then worked as a waitress at several places in Lewistown and in Denton working as the manager of waitresses at the Yogo Inn. She then went to work at the Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center in the kitchen and later to the activities from which she retired as Activities Director in the early 1990's.

Mitzie loved playing the piano which she learned mainly by ear, she did many crafts, making candles, sewing many clothes and costumes for her children, hunting, fishing and camping with her family.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Central Montana Genealogy Society, V.F.W. Post #1703, Red Hat Society, Democratic Central Committee, Voice of Democracy, S.A.M. club, Eagles Auxiliary and a Girl Scout Leader for many years.

She is survived by one son Larry of Lewistown; daughters Sherry (Bud) Dengel of Lewistown, Susan (Jere) Chastain of Pinehurst, ID and Vicki (Tom) Philp of Suffolk, MT; one brother Dr. Lawrence Pettit of Helena, MT; 6 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2005, her parents, one brother, one sister and one daughter-in-law.

Graveside Services for Mary (Mitzie) Lund will be Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lewistown City Cemetery, a Celebration of Life will be held later next summer when more family and friends are able to attend. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Boys & Girls Club or to the charity of their choice and they may be left with the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com.
