Michael Paul Berger, Sr. 72 of Lewistown passed away at his home on September 26, 2021, after a long illness. Mike was born in Moore, Montana on July 2, 1949 to Francis and Mary (Swan) Berger. Mike was married two times and had eight children. When Mike was a baby, the family moved to Butte. Mike worked at various jobs in his lifetime. He worked for the Anaconda Company at their smelter in Anaconda, MT. Mike attended Northern Montana College in Havre and received an Associate's degree in Diesel mechanics. While in Havre he worked at a car dealership as a lead mechanic. Mike worked as a diesel mechanic at Blankenship Construction in Butte for two years then moved to Lewistown and opened his own diesel mechanics business with his brother - in-law Ken. Mike eventually moved to Seattle, Washington and worked as a machinist making metal templates in preparation for building various machines. Mike retired in 2019 and moved back to Lewistown.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved the outdoors and playing canasta with anyone who would play. He was very competitive. Mike's favorite saying when he was leaving was "What did the beaver say to the tree? Nice naughin ya." He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Michael Berger, Jr., Gayle George, David Berger, Kenneth Berger, Corey Berger and Robert Berger all of Colorado, Shawn Berger of Butte and Travis Berger of Great Falls; his siblings Eileen (Michael) Richey of Gresham, OR, Barbara Wichman of West, TX and Joseph (Colleen) Berger of Butte, MT; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Steve and Rose Swan, John and Eliza Berger, his brother Ed and brother-in-law Ken Wichman.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Leo's Catholic Church, cremation has taken place at his request with the Cloyd Funeral Home assisting the family.
