Orville Arlen Olson

Orville A. Olson, 89 of Lewistown, passed away on June 23, 2024 at the Valle Vista Manor in Lewistown. He was born on November 19, 1934 in Middle River, Minnesota to Elmer and Clara (Jevne) Olson. After leaving Minnesota he traveled to Montana working for ranches and the railroad. 

In 1952 he met the love of his life, Berdella M. Rhodes. They were united in marriage in Middle River, Minnesota on August 1, 1954. They traveled on road construction jobs across Montana where he was a rock crusher operator for many years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 400 for 62 years. In 1966 they moved to Lewistown where, with many friends, they worked side by side to build their home. In 1997 Orville retired and got to travel. They enjoyed their life together at home, until June 5, 2012, when he lost Berdella to cancer.

Orville enjoyed snow skiing, hunting, and dancing and was always a very hard worker. He loved a good cup (or two) of coffee and spending time talking with friends.

He is survived by sisters, Delores (Lolly) Kelso of Missouri and Arlene Cote of Minnesota, brother, Randall Olson of Washington, sister-in-law, Myrna Krantz of Montana, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Clara Olson, his wife Berdella, and brothers, Wallace Olson and Floyd Olson. 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Cloyd Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Central Montana Memorial Gardens. Pastor Kimmy Briggs will be officiating. Please join the family for a reception and meal to follow at the Lewistown Eagles Club.
