Paul B. Vanommen

February 20, 1922 — March 29, 2019

Paul B. VanOmmen 97 of Judith Gap passed away Friday evening, March 29, 2019 with his family by his side in Wheatland Memorial Healthcare of natural causes. He was born February 20, 1922 in Judith Gap, Montana the son of Henry and Alida (Bleeker) VanOmmen.  He received his schooling in Judith Gap.  On June 3, 1945 he was united in marriage to Leona Lauwers in Harlowton in a double ceremony with his twin brother Pete and Leona's sister Elza.  Paul and Leona were married for 73 years and were blessed with 4 children.

Paul worked as a ranch hand in the Harlowton and Judith Gap areas and for Ray Luther in his saw mill. In the early 1960's he began working for Wheatland County in the Road Department until his retirement in the mid 1980's.

Paul enjoyed helping others and working in his shop doing mechanic work, building trailers and building his Model A.

Paul loved to spend time with his family and was always willing to go with them when he was asked.

He was a member of the Judith Gap United Methodist Church, served many years on the Judith Gap City Council and served as Mayor, he was a member of the Judith Gap Fire Department and the Moose Lodge of Harlowton.

He is survived by children Ray (Gail) of Missoula, MT, Vivian (Dave) Foster and Barb (Ray) Breeding both of Judith Gap, MT, Bud (Cheryl) of Post Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2018, his parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral Services for Paul B. VanOmmen will be Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Judith Gap United Methodist Church with committal to follow in the Judith Gap Cemetery.  The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Visitation will be Sunday, April 7th, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Perkins Chapel in Harlowton.

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Judith Gap United Methodist Church, the Judith Gap Fire Department or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com.
