With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rev. Elias Stahl. He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a short period of colon cancer. He was born October 27th, 1948 at the Deerfield Colony where he lived all his life.
Eli was elected minister in 1987 and was ordained in 1995. He lived a dedicated life as a true Gemeinschafter. ACTS 2:44. He will be remembered for standing up for the Hutterite Faith, traditions and way of life. He always started the day with singing praises to the lord.
Eli enjoyed full days of work and started most days at daylight or earlier. He had a passion for raising Black Angus cattle and took a lot of pride in selecting the herd sires. Eli was well known by Angus cattleman throughout the industry. He especially enjoyed going to Sage Creek Ranch to check on the cows. He always looked forward to a new calf crop and baby colts. He also was an avid gardener and spent most of the summer tending to the flood irrigation.
Eli was never short of friends who were always greeted by a smile and twinkling blue eyes.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 48 years. His sons Rev. Gene (Evelyn) and Tim (Margaret). His daughters Helen (Rev. Ben), Rosanna (Daniel) Wollman and Naomi (Paul) Hofer. His three brothers Dave (Mary), Dan (Matilda) and Ed (Josie). Two sisters Lydia (Leonard) Hofer and Annie (Cash) Hofer. 25 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is an infant daughter Dorothy, Parents Rev. David and Elisabeth, two sisters Lena and Bertha.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time of loss. Dorothy and Family.
