Reverend Dr. Ronald A. Erickson, 90, of Lewistown died Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 at his home of natural causes. He was born May 6, 1934 in Lewistown, MT the son of Harold and Marie (Breast) Erickson. He received his education in Lewistown, graduating from Fergus High School in 1952. He then attended the University of Montana School of Journalism in Missoula. In 1959 he attended Berkeley Baptist Divinity School receiving his Ordination to Ministry on May 3rd, 1959. He then served in the ministry at the First Baptist Church in Billings, MT as an Associate Minister. Serving as Pastor from 1964 to 1967 for the First Baptist Church in Beatrice, NE, 1967 to 1970 First Baptist Church in Oconomowoc, WI, 1970 to 1997 First Baptist Church in Lacrosse, WI and Campus Chaplain at the University of Wisconsin at Lacrosse. In 1989 he received his Doctor of Ministry from the United Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN.
He was married to Marjorie Anderson for 72 years and they had three children.
In 1980 and through the rest of his life, he became a Master Norwegian Woodcarver as a Swede.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie of Lewistown, sons Scott (Michelle) of Elizabeth Lake, CA and Paul of Lewistown; five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marie Erickson, his sister Donna Nevin (wife of Dick Nevin), and his son Ronald Alan who served as a Seal in the United States Navy and died because of PTSD received from his service to his country.
Funeral Services for Rev. Dr. Ronald Erickson will be Monday, August 19th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cloyd Chapel with committal to follow in the Lewistown City Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
