Robert E. Haynie (Bob)

Robert E. Haynie, (Bob) "Spanky", 51, of Winifred died unexpectedly on April 5, 2024. He was born on March 9, 1973 to Laura (Owings) Smith and Michael "Mick" Haynie in Newport Beach, CA.

 He moved to Winifred with his dad, "Mick" in 1985 and attended Winifred School. Bob got his GED at Job Corps in Utah and was trained in welding and machining. "Spanky" also worked construction, assisted with local harvests, and for the last few years has been employed at Stillwater Mine in Nye, MT as a heavy equipment operator.

 After eight years together he married Britney Ehlert on September 17, 2022.

 "Spanky" was a talented and interesting man with a quick wit and a curious mind. He loved fishing, history, all genres of music, old automobiles, and the LA Dodgers (he was so excited for opening day, a few weeks ago). He was a talented artist, skilled in drawing and cartooning. When he loved something, he threw his heart and soul into it and that includes his dear wife Britney, his son Wyatt, and his dog Attie May. He cared deeply about his friends and was utterly unselfish in his desire to do things for others.

 "Spanky" died suddenly of an aortic rupture only four days after the death of his mother-in-law, Carol Ehlert.

 Robert is survived by his wife Britney Ehlert Haynie of Winifred, son Wyatt of San Diego, CA., sister-in-law Kelsey Ehlert-Sharp (Zach) of Winifred, niece Amilliea Sharp, father-in-law Alan of Winifred, mother Laura Smith, brother Richard Mitchell and aunt Margie Haaland.

 He was preceded in death by his father ”Mick” Haynie, his mother-in-law Carol Ehlert, his uncle Robert Haynie, and grandparents, Ralph and Erma Owings and Eugene and Agnes Haynie.

 A visitation will be held at Cloyd Funeral Home on Friday, April 12th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A double funeral for "Spanky" and Carol will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Winifred School with The Rev. Robin K. Nice Bjella officiating. Burials will follow at the Winifred Cemetery.
