Ronald L. Moody

September 20, 1946 — May 11, 2017

Ronald Leon Moody, born Sept. 20th, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Saturday June 3rd at his home looking over the Judith Mountains in the early morning hours as the beautiful Montana sun rose to the sky.

Ron achieved his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Political Science from Ole Miss while building a career on journalism at The Memphis Press Semeter while raising a family with his then wife Bonnie and only child Ben. Other jobs he had included being a stock broker for Dean Witter and courier for Fed Ex from which he retired.

Ron's important years came after retirement where he became involved in conservation and wildlife management. Ron served as a commissioner for The Montana FWP. He cofounded the Montana Sportsman Alliance, was part of the Montana Wildlife Federation, Central Montana Pheasants Forever, Big Sky Upland Bird Association, Back Country Hunters and Anglers, Public Land/Water Access Association, Central Montana Resource Council, Montana Resource Advisory Council, Missouri River Breaks National Monument, CMR Community Working Group, Sportsmen for Game Farm Reform, Central Montana Democratic Committee, Friends of the Missouri Breaks, Northern Plains Resource Council, Central Montana Resource Council, Montana State Library Commission, Upland Bird Association, Billings Rod and Gun Club, Central Montana Conservation Council, Montana Civics Chamber, Friends of the Library and much more.

He was preceded in death by his father Ira Lonnie Moody, his mother Sudie Leigh Moody, his sister Lawanta Sylvester, his brother Ancel Moody, and his niece Robin Moody.

He is survived by his son Benjamin Moody and his beloved daughter in-law Jennifer Moody of Lewistown, 5 Grandchildren: Ashley Moody of Tennessee, Ronald Jacob Moody, Jordan Patrick Moody, Alexis Graham, and Madison Hair of Lewistown, loyal hunting companion Dixie, nieces Dawn Sanders, Lisa Nabholtz, and Lorey Phillips, nephew Joey Moody all of which from Arkansas, niece Karen Woods of Mississippi, niece Deborah McWhorter of Indiana and partner in life Yvonne Lincoln of Lewistown. There are many great nieces and nephews as well he adored and loved.

A memorial service for Ronald Moody will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Cloyd Chapel. Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
