On the morning of April 1st, 2022, Suzanne Donnelly, 76, of Kalispell, MT, passed away in Lewistown, MT, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Suzanne was born in Houston, Texas on June 3, 1945 to Dr. Edward and Dorothy Hinds. In 1963, she graduated from Westbury High School in Houston. Suzanne lived a life of creativity and artistic expression and began her study of art at the University of Texas.
In 1968, Suzanne moved to Montana where she thrived as an artist, author, and teacher. Suzanne achieved her BA in art from Montana State University in 1985 and achieved her MA of interdisciplinary arts from the University of Montana in 1997. Her work was exhibited in countless shows in Texas, Alabama, and Montana. Her most recent exhibit was at the Phoenix Gallery in Butte, MT. Suzanne designed/authored a number of catalogues and art publications. She was an art educator for Great Falls Public Schools 1989 - 2008.
Suzanne was also an active member of the arts community and served as a chairperson of the “SHARE” program, as well as a member of the board of trustees for the Montana Arts Foundation. She held various positions in the arts with both Paris Gibson Square and Gallery 16 in Great Falls, MT.
Suzanne shared her passion for the arts with her family and community. We cherish memories of her teaching her grandchildren, and any willing neighborhood child, various art mediums, including knitting. She loved being a grandmother and took her grandchildren on countless adventures. Upon retirement from teaching, she moved to the Kalispell area to be more actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Edward Copas Hinds and Dorothy Margaret Hinds-Elliott; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Janice Hinds; sister, Christina Hinds.
Suzanne is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Lisa Hinds, her son Doug Donnelly, her son and daughter-in-law Dan and Sarah Donnelly, her grandchildren Searra, Aspen and Phoenix Donnelly, her nephews Mark Hinds and Sam Hinds and her nieces Kimberly Dorcheus, Hannah Hinds and Grace Hinds. Along with a host of cousins and cherished friends.
